George A. Asare (Major Rtd) is a Senior Lecturer/Researcher at the University of Ghana School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences. He has served as a visiting research scholar at the Academy of Integrative Medicine, Fujian University of Chinese Traditional Medicine, and Consultant Toxicologist with PROMETRA in South Africa. He has authored over 34 publications in peer reviewed journals. Amongst other areas, he specializes in Phytotoxicity, Phytotherapy, Turmourigensis / Carcinogenesis, and Oxidative Stress and Damage.

He has served on a number of boards and committees including TANG-Humanitas Medicine, Medicinal Plants- International Journal on Phytomedicine, Committee on the Advances of Medicinal Plant Research in Ghana, and the Ghana Association of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists Scientific committee.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry, a Diploma in Military Training at the Ghana Military Academy, a Master’s degree in Chemical Pathology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Doctor of Philosophy(Medicine) degree and Post-Doctoral Research Fellow degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
